Most people on a spiritual path know they should meditate, eat better, and work on themselves. But when I ask them what specifically is blocking their growth, they usually can’t say. They feel stuck without knowing where or why.
After years of looking into people’s body energies and measuring chakra openness across many individuals, I’ve built a picture of what’s actually happening inside most people’s energy systems — and the numbers are sobering. The average person’s chakras are only open between 1% and 8%. That’s not a misprint. The energy channels designed to connect us with Earth, with other people, and with the divine are operating at a fraction of their capacity.
In this article I’ll walk you through each of the seven major chakras, share the specific openness percentages I’ve measured, explain what beliefs and patterns block each one, and tell you the most effective remedies I’ve found for each level. Think of it as a diagnostic map for your spiritual growth — showing you exactly where your energy system is constricted and what to do about it.

How Energy, Consciousness, and Chakras Connect
Consciousness needs a medium to manifest, and that medium is spiritual energy — the life force known in ancient traditions as prana or qi. This energy vibrates at different frequencies, and each frequency corresponds to a different level of awareness. From my research, this universe operates across 12 dimensions of vibration, and the first 7 correspond directly to the 7 major chakras in our body.
The majority of humanity vibrates at about 3.5 on this scale — both soul and body. Less than 10% of all humans alive today have reached the 4th chakra vibration level or higher. These numbers come from reading many thousands of people’s energies over the years, and they’ve remained remarkably consistent.
When your energy is flowing freely through open chakras, you feel connected, clear, and alive. When chakras are blocked — which is the norm, not the exception — you experience disconnection, confusion, low energy, and stalled growth. The blocks are almost always caused by limiting beliefs held in the subconscious. Each chakra has its own category of beliefs that keep it shut.
The Seven Chakras: What’s Blocking Each One
1st Level — Root Chakra (avg. 3-4% open). The root chakra is the main gateway for Earth’s life energy into your body. This energy — what Hindu traditions call kundalini — enters through your soles, rises through your legs, and reaches the root chakra reservoir. For city dwellers, the average openness drops to just 1–2%, likely because living surrounded by cement, glass, plastic, and steel has disconnected us from Nature and Earth. The beliefs blocking this chakra are all survival fears: fear of death, illness, aging, poverty, not having enough to survive. The best remedies are active grounding procedures and working specifically on releasing survival-related beliefs.
2nd Level — Sacral Chakra (avg. 6–7% open). This chakra governs intense emotions tied to intimate relationships, sexuality, and closeness. When blocked, it creates both physical and emotional distress in these areas. The beliefs that hold it shut include jealousy, possessiveness, shame around sexuality, and chronic dissatisfaction with a partner. Remedies include meditation focused on these specific beliefs, beliefs release work, self-inquiry, and practices that soothe the emotional body like music or working with crystals.
3rd Level — Solar Plexus Chakra (avg. 7–8% open). The seat of will and personal power. This is where the Ego manifests most strongly — it’s about how you approach life, your assertiveness, your sense of direction. When someone finds their true mission as intended by their soul and steps onto their optimal path, this chakra opens noticeably. The blocking beliefs here involve manipulation, misuse of power, lack of purpose, and low self-esteem. Remedies include releasing limiting beliefs at this level, finding your mission in life, practicing humbleness, and honest self-inquiry about how you use (or misuse) your personal power.
4th Level — Heart Chakra (avg. 8% open). The heart chakra reflects how close or distant you feel from the world around you — from other people, from nature, from life itself. Blockages here show up as violence, aggression, despair, losing trust in humanity, feeling alone, and even physical heart problems. This is the first level above the material world in vibration, and fewer than 10% of humans have reached it. The most effective remedies are actions, not just meditation: reconnecting with people, spending time in nature, serving others, self-love, volunteering. From my experience, these heal faster than meditation alone at this level.
5th Level — Throat Chakra (avg. 5–6% open). This chakra is about communication — what you say, when you say it, and whether you speak with integrity. It covers both communication with other people and vertical communication with higher spiritual beings, God, and spiritual guides. High openness reflects honest, principled communication. Low openness often correlates with manipulation, deception, and misalignment between what you say and what you believe. The remedy here goes beyond meditation — it requires reconsidering your core values and deciding whether integrity or quick rewards matter more to you.
6th Level — Third Eye Chakra (avg. 4–5% open). This chakra reflects how clearly you perceive reality — the real causes of what’s happening around you, not just what family, school, society, or media told you. A well-open third eye is what allows you to learn your life lessons and move forward, rather than repeating the same patterns life after life. The remedies include releasing beliefs that distort your perception of reality, shedding preconceptions, and reconnecting with your soul and God for guidance in understanding the world around you.
7th Level — Crown Chakra (avg. 5% open). The crown chakra governs your connection with the divine — with your soul, God, spiritual guides, and higher entities. When this is open, you experience a natural flow of guidance and a sense of being supported by something larger than yourself. The beliefs that block it include “There’s nothing beyond our five senses,” “Everyone is on their own in this world,” and a general dismissal of anything beyond the material. Remedies include meditation on the divine, working on your connection with your soul, and releasing beliefs that shut down your openness to higher dimensions.
I’ve also written about how Love manifests differently at each of these seven levels — which gives another lens on the same framework.
Why These Numbers Matter for Your Daily Life and Spiritual Growth
These aren’t abstract spiritual measurements. When your chakras are mostly closed — and for most people, they are — the effects show up everywhere. Low energy, scattered thinking, relationship difficulties, poor health, a nagging sense that something is off — these are what blocked energy channels feel like from the inside. When your vibrations are high and your chakras are opening, you feel clear, focused, and at peace. You’re more attuned to your intuition, your decisions improve, and you handle challenges with more steadiness. The state of your chakras shapes your daily reality far more than most people suspect.
The good news is that every percentage point of additional opening makes a noticeable difference. You don’t need to go from 5% to 100% overnight. Even moving a chakra from 5% to 10% changes how you experience reality at that level. The work is gradual but the results are real and cumulative. I’ve watched students transform their daily experience by systematically working on just one or two chakra levels at a time, and the shifts they report are consistent: more energy, better relationships, clearer thinking, and a sense of being more connected to life.
Where to Start
Look at the seven levels above and ask yourself honestly: which descriptions hit closest to home? Where do you recognize your own patterns and struggles? That’s likely where your biggest blocks are, and where focused work will produce the fastest and most noticeable results. You don’t need to tackle all seven at once — in fact, trying to do so usually dilutes your effort. Pick the one or two levels that resonate most and start there.
Across all seven levels, the single most effective practice is releasing limiting beliefs at the specific level where you’re stuck. Meditation, nature connection, breathwork, and other spiritual practices all support the process, but they work best when combined with targeted beliefs work rather than used as standalone tools.
If you want to know exactly where your chakras stand right now, a soul and body vibration reading gives you the specific percentages for each chakra — so you’re not guessing. If you’re ready to work on the blocks directly, a beliefs healing session targets the exact subconscious patterns keeping your chakras closed. And if you want a structured path through all seven levels with guidance and feedback at each stage, that’s exactly what the Body & Soul Ascension Spiritual Academy was built to provide — from your first level all the way to your highest potential.
Your chakras are meant to be open. The energy is there, waiting to flow. What’s standing in the way is identifiable, measurable, and removable. You don’t need to believe in anything mystical — just be willing to look honestly at what’s keeping your energy channels closed and commit to doing the work, one level at a time.
